Misdirected red cover with postal correction notice

Misdirected red cover with postal correction notice

An original postal-history paper object from the collection, catalogued as a misdirected and rerouted postal cover. Red cover to Erwin Glass in Hamburg with the 60-pfennig EUROPA “1957–1982 Treaties of Rome” stamp, cancellation dated 30 June 1982 and an official notice that the delivery-office designation was incorrect. The correction notice and reverse return details document genuine misdirection and rerouting. The catalogue dating is “1982”, the country or postal area is “Federal Republic of Germany”, and the visible franking or postal charge is recorded as “60 Pfennig”. Condition is typical of genuinely transported and opened correspondence: folds, light soiling, edge wear and small opening tears may be present and have not been concealed. Front and back were scanned directly with all visible edges retained, without retouching or artificial restoration. Details that cannot be read securely from the scan are deliberately identified as approximate rather than asserted as certain.
